(Pop) Open Your Senses With Cork

A new seminar series with sensory expert Dr. Hoby Wedler explores wine through every sense.

The 100% Cork campaign has partnered with Dr. Hoby Wedler, a blind sensory expert and UC Davis PhD chemist, on a new seminar series that calls on all the senses at once. Guests explore wine’s aromas, textures and evolving flavor without relying on sight, then join a guided tasting on the real impact cork closures have on a wine as it ages.

The series opens this fall in Napa Valley and Washington, with more cities to follow. It is a natural pairing: every cubic centimeter of cork holds tens of millions of air-filled cells, letting a slow, steady trace of oxygen help a wine’s aromas and flavors deepen over time.

Key Facts

  • Napa Valley: Charles Krug, November 2, 10:00 to 11:30 AM
  • Washington: DeLille Cellars, Woodinville, November 4, 10:00 to 11:30 AM
